I designed the short course, Exploring! Amazing Monarch Butterflies, as a potential product for use by a library as part of their early learning program. The library is located in the Monarch butterfly migration route, and each year participates in the annual Monarch Festival.
In this asynchronous course, my challenge was to keep young learners engaged and support them with assessments. Developing this course reminded me of the value of knowing your learners and assessing prior knowledge in teaching online.
