Participants in online learning are harnessing the power of new technology tools as quickly as they are introduced to the market. The morphing of social media tools into instruments for teaching and learning has given designers, instructors, and learners means for collaborating without boundaries and are instrumental in developing networked communities of inquiry. As learners migrate from desktops to mobile devices, mobile learning is now an critical component in the design and delivery of online learning. This report is the result of a collaborative inquiry into the use social media and mobile learning (mLearning) in medical education and patient care.
